Suspect Wanted for Questioning for North 5th Street Shooting

Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr. is requesting the public’s assistance in locating Aariyan Walker, 23, of Newark, who is wanted for questioning in connection with a shooting that injured two people on December 6, 2025.

At approximately 4:07 p.m., the city’s ShotSpotter system detected gunfire in the 30 block of North 5th Street. 

Responding officers located one victim inside a grocery store suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. 

Officers rendered aid until the victim was transported to University Hospital.

 

Police later responded to the hospital, where they identified a second gunshot victim connected to the same incident.

 

During the investigation, officers recovered two 9mm shell casings and a black Nike ski mask, authorities said.
 

Walker is described as a Black male, approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing 165 pounds, with hazel eyes and black hair.
