Suspect Wanted for Firing Shots While on E-Bike in Newark’s South Ward

Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr. is asking for the community’s assistance in identifying a suspect connected to a June 3, 2025, shooting in the city’s South Ward.

 

Around 5:11 p.m., Newark Police were notified of the incident by Elizabeth Police Department officers who were working in the area of Ludlow Street and Van Vechten Street. 

Authorities said the officers witnessed a suspect fire shots while riding an electric bike, aiming at another male who also fled on an electric bike.

The intended victim was not struck.
 

Detectives recovered surveillance footage of the suspect, described as a Black male wearing a red hat and a hunter green hooded sweater while riding a black electric bike.
