Suspect Wanted in Causing Police Motorcycle Crash in Newark

Police in Newark are requesting the public’s assistance with locating and identifying a suspect who is wanted for causing two police motorcycle officers to crash on June 12th.

According to authorities, at approximately 3:25 pm, Newark motorcycle officers were riding southbound on Broadway when they saw a group of cyclist riding off-road motorcycles recklessly traveling in the opposite direction.

The officers were initiating a motor vehicle stop when the suspect, (who was riding a black four-wheel off-road motorcycle, commonly referred to as a quad) allegedly abruptly cut in front of the officers who collided to avoid hitting him authorities said.

Police said the group scattered with the quad’s rider abandoning the cycle on Summer Avenue.

University Hospital treated both officers who are now at home continuing to recover from their injuries authorities said.

After an intense and in-depth investigation, Criminal Investigation Bureau Detective Jose Duran was able to obtain pictures of the suspect.
