Police in Newark closed a section of Broad Steet for traffic while officers searched the area for a crime scene for a shooting incident on Monday evening.
A preliminary investigation revealed, at approximately 7:05 p.m, police were called to the 400 block of Lyons Avenue, where they met with a woman who reported that while driving the vicinity of Miller and Broad street, she heard gunfire rang out in the area.
According to reports, after the woman reached her Lyons Avenue destination, she noticed a bullet hole in the car's rear.
No one inside the car was injured and it is not clear if police recovered a crime scene at the Broad Street location.
The incident remains under investigation.
