State Police Seeks Public’s Assistance with Fatal Paterson Hit-and-Run Crash Investigation

The New Jersey State Police Fatal Accident Investigations Unit is seeking the public’s assistance with a hit-and-run crash investigation that claimed the life of a pedestrian.

According to authorities, on July 15th, at approximately 7:44 p.m., an unidentified vehicle was traveling on Interstate 80 eastbound in Paterson, near milepost 58.9, when the vehicle struck an unidentified man who was in the center lane of travel.

Officials say that after the initial impact, the pedestrian was struck by a Honda Civic. The victim sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Honda remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, but the driver of the initial vehicle departed after the crash.
