State Police Seeking Public's Assistance with Shooting on State Highway 55

The New Jersey State Police are seeking the public’s assistance with the shooting investigation of a 26-year-old male who was shot and critically injured on State Highway 55 in Millville, Cumberland County earlier today.

Police say at approximately 12:20 a.m., troopers from Port Norris Station responded to milepost 28.2 northbound for the report of a single-vehicle crash.

When troopers arrived, they discovered the male victim sustained a gunshot wound and crashed. He was treated at the scene before being taken to an area hospital where he was last listed in critical condition.

Detectives at the scene determined several shots were fired at the victim's vehicle by an unidentified passing vehicle on the northbound lanes of State Highway 55.

According to police, at approximately 12:10 a.m., the victim was captured on video surveillance leaving the Wawa on Second Street in Millville and driving towards State Highway 55.

Detectives believe that the shooting may have been the result of an incident that occurred between the victim and an unknown suspect in Millville on July 23.
