Standoff in Roselle Park Ends with Barricaded Man Dead

After more than eight hours, a standoff with a barricaded man inside a Sherman Avenue home ended in his death.

Police responded to the area of Sherman Avenue near East Lincoln Avenue after the individual's friend contacted police concerned about his friend's well-being sometime around 11 p.m.

Upon arrival, police learned the the man, a U.S. Customs officers, was armed.  The Union County SWAT responded to home shortly after.

After hours, the ordeal ended sometime around 7 a.m. when a gunshot was fired inside the home. The unidentified officer was found dead.

According to initial reports, no one else appears to have been inside the home. 

Incident remains under investigation.
