South Orange Avenue Shooting Injures One in Newark

Newark Police are on the search for a suspect wanted for a shooting that caused bodily injuries to a male victim in Newark's Central Ward on Thursday night. 

In the incident, police were dispatched to the vicinity of 340 South Orange Avenue to investigate reports of shots fired. 

When officers arrive at the scene, they found a male victim suffering bullet wounds. 

Police say a ShotSpotter device activated and alerted authorities of multiple rounds of gunfire in that section of the city's Central Ward.

The victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment and is reportedly in stable condition. 

Police have not released a motive for the shooting and no arrests have been reported.
