ShotsSpotter Device Detects Shooting on Schley Street in Newark

Police in Newark reported property damage in a shot-fired incident in the city's South Ward on Monday. 

A ShotSpotter device activated after gunfire rang out in the vicinity of 328 Schley Street around 2:50 p.m. 

Officers arrived and found multiple shell casings on the ground, and a car damaged after bullets struck at that location. 

Police say no one was inside the vehicle and a search of the area indicated no injuries.

The suspect ran from the scene and has not been arrested at this time.
