ShotsSpotter Activation Detects Multiple Gunshots in Newark Neighborhood

There were no injuries reported for a shots fired incident that occurred in a Newark South Ward neighborhood Tuesday night.

According to preliminary reports, police were alerted of gunfire eruption by a ShotsSpotter activation in the 100 block of Elizabeth Avenue near East Alpine Street at around 9 p.m.

Several officers arrived at the scene and began a search where they located shell casings, but after a search of the area, there were no victims reported.

Police taped off the area as they searched for evidence to support a possible motive for the shooting.

The shooter remains at at-large.
