ShotSpotter Leads Police to North Ward Shooting Scene

Newark Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred in the city’s North Ward late Monday night.

According to preliminary reports, a ShotSpotter device activated around 10:45 p.m., alerting officers to gunfire in the area of North 12th Street and 4th Avenue. 
 

When police units arrived, they discovered shell casings and other evidence confirming that a shooting had taken place.

 

A thorough search of the neighborhood did not locate any victims, and no injuries were reported. 


The Newark Shooting Response Team responded to assist in the investigation.

 

No arrests have been made, and the motive for the gunfire remains under investigation.
