ShotSpotter Device Detects Gunfire in Newark's South Ward

There were no injuries reported in a shots-fired incident that erupted in a neighborhood in Newark's South Ward on Thursday night. 

Police say a male suspect fired multiple rounds of bullets in the 40's block of Hanford Street just before 11:25 p.m. 

Officers arrived at the neighborhood and found about a half dozen shell casings, but no victims were found after police canvassed the scene. 

Police say a vehicle was damaged after flying bullets struck the car.

No arrests have been reported.
