ShotSpotter Device Detects Gunfire on 3rd Street in Newark

Police reported no serious injuries in a shooting incident at a location in Newark on Friday morning. 

According to maps, the shooting happened about a block from the city's Central and West Ward border around midnight.

In the incident, police responded to reports of shots fired from a ShotSpotter device in the vicinity of 16 3rd Street around 12:10 a.m. 

According to police, units arrived at the scene and found multiple shell casings, but a search of the neighborhood indicated no victims. 

The shooter fled the scene and is at large. 

There is no motive for the shooting at this time.
