Police are investigating a shots-fired incident that occurred early Sunday morning in Newarkâs South Ward.
At approximately 3:30 a.m., a ShotSpotter device alerted officers to gunfire in the 40s block of Victoria Street, just outside Weequahic Park.
When officers arrived, they located multiple shell casings on the ground and secured the area while conducting a search.
No victims were found in or around the park.
Authorities say the suspect fled the scene and remains at large.
The motive for the shooting remains under active investigation. No additional information has been released.
