Newark police are investigating a shots-fired incident that occurred early Saturday morning in the city’s West Ward.
Authorities responded to the 50s block of Stuyvesant Avenue in the Vailsburg section around 1:30 a.m. after receiving reports of gunfire.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that an unidentified suspect had fired a weapon into a residence at that location.
Fortunately, no one inside the home was injured. Police recovered ballistic evidence from within the residence as part of their investigation.
At this time, it is unclear if the suspect is known to the occupants of the home.
Investigators are also exploring the possibility that the shooting may be connected to a domestic violence-related incident, according to preliminary reports.
The motive remains under investigation, and no arrests have been announced.
