Newark Police are investigating an early morning shooting that occurred in a neighborhood in the city's North Ward Saturday morning.
Gunfire rang out in the area of Mount Prospect and 3rd at approximately 4:05 a.m., sending police to the scene to investigate.
Units arrived and found several shell casings then requested a crime scene unit at that location.
A search of the area indicated no victims, according to police.
The motive for the shooting has not been determined.
