Shots Fired Investigation Underway in Newark Neighborhoods

There were no serious injuries reported in two shots fired incidents that occurred over the weekend in Newark.

According to police, the latest incident occurred at approximately 3:25 p.m. in the 800 block of South 17th Street where a gunman fired several shots at an unknown target then fled the scene.

Police say officers arrived to find shell casings, but after they canvassed the area, they did not locate a victim.

In a separate incident, gunfire erupted on Renner Avenue on Saturday night sending police to the scene where they arrived and were told that suspects occupying a vehicle arrived in the area and began shooting.

Police believe that the vehicle used in the shooting was stolen out of Elizabeth on Friday.
