Authorities in Newark are investigating a shooting that left a man injured last night in the city.
Residents in the 200 block of Shephard Avenue dialed 911 after hearing multiple rounds of gunfire at around 8:30 p.m.
Units arriving to the scene found multiple shell casings but no victim was immediately located.
Several hours later, hospital officials at the Beth Israel Hospital contacted authorities when a male victim walked into the emergency room suffering injury from gunfire.
It was determined that the man was struck at the Shephard Street location.
The victim was reported to be in stable condition after surgery.
At around 4:30 p.m. in Newark's North Ward, gunfire rang out from a vehicle in the 200 block of North 6th Street sending police to the scene where one person was reportedly struck by gunfire.
The victim was transported to University Hospital in an unknown condition.
Police are looking for a white Acura TL with Florida registrations occupied by two black males.
Police have a crime scene established and an investigation underway.
There have been no arrests made.
