Police are currently checking a section of Newark for a crime scene after a shooting victim entered University Hospital this evening.
According to a preliminary investigation, officials at the hospital contacted police when a male entered the emergency department suffering a bullet wound in his leg shortly before 9 p.m.
The victim told police that suspects fired on him in the area of 11th Avenue and South 9th Street.
The victim’s injury is being reported as non-life threatening at this time.
Police have not released a motive for the shooting and no other injuries are reported.
