Police in Newark set up a crime scene in a section of the city's West Ward, where they investigated a shooting that injured a male Tuesday morning.
According to police, University Hospital offcials contacted police when a male was dropped off by private vehicle to the emergency room, suffering a gunshot wound in his eye shortly before 12:40 a.m.
The victim -around the age of 23-years-old- reported to police that he suffered his injury after someone fired at him in the single-digit block of West End Avenue before arriving at the hospital.
Police say the victim's injuries were not immediately reported as life-threatening and the motive for the shooting is under investigation.
The suspect remains at-large.
