There is an active and ongoing investigation underway into a shooting that injured a person in a section of Newark Sunday morning.
According to police, the West Ward shooting happened at approximately 3:25 a.m. in the 400 block of South 17th Street.
Police responded to reports of shots fired and when they arrived at the scene, they found the unidentified victim struck by bullets at that location. There was a second person injured, but police are determining if the individual was shot.
Detectives closed off the residential neighborhood from South Orange Avenue to 14th Avenue to conduct the investigation.
The condition of the victims has not been immediately reported as life-threatening at this time.
No arrests reported.
