Newark Police were on the scene of a shooting in a section of the city on Tuesday.
According to a preliminary investigation, an armed suspect arrived in a section of South 12th Street and 15th Avenue and began firing at unknown targets around 8 p.m.
Police arrived at the scene and located multiple shell casings near 408 South 12th Street, but officers did not find a victim.
Officers taped off areas around the intersection for the investigation and credited a ShotSpotter Device for detecting the shooting incident.
The motive for the shooting has not been determined.
