Police are searching for several suspects who are responsible for a reported attempted carjacking that left a man shot in Newark this evening.
Gunfire rang out at around 6:30 p.m. in the area of Noth 7th Street and 6th Avenue West sending officers from the Essex County Sheriff Department to the scene where cops found a male victim shot according to preliminary reports.
The man was rushed to University Hospital where he suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen reports said.
The extent of his injuries have not been confirmed at this time.
Police are looking for three black males (possibly juveniles) who fled the scene immediately after the shooting.
The suspects reportedly attempted to pull off a carjacking when gunfire rang out sttiking the victim.
