Emergency responders were called to the scene of a reported shooting in the North Ward of Newark early Sunday morning.
According to Newark Police gunfire was reported shortly after 3 a.m. in the 30s block of Abington Avenue, prompting police and medical units to respond.
When authorities arrived, a man was found suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to University Hospital, where Newark Police said they were in stable condition.
The motive for the shooting remains under active and ongoing investigation, and no additional details were released at this time.
