Shooting That Occurred Near Newark Gas Station Under Investigation

Police recovered shell casings near a Newark gas station after a shots fired incident had officers on the scene investigating Saturday.

The early morning shooting happened in at the intersection of Court and Washington streets at approximately 2:20 a.m. where police rushed to the scene after received reports of possible injured victims.

Units arrived at the scene and found evidence that a shooting occurred, but there were no victims immediately located.

Witnesses told police that black male who wore a hoodie fired multiple shots in the direction of a male before running in the vicinity of 440 Washington Street.

According to witnesses, the bullet connected on the victim's leg who was then placed in a private vehicle and transported away from the scene.

There were no reports of injuries to gas station employees.
