Police officials in Newark are investigating a shooting that occurred in city neighborhood Saturday morning.
According to police, a ShotSpotter activation alerted police of gunfire that rang out in the 100 block of North 5th Street at around 1 a.m. where arriving police officers found evidence that a shooting occurred but no victims.
Police say a house in the 100 block of Dickerson was damaged after bullets struck it several times.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
This is the 3rd shooting in the neighborhood this month with one of the incidents resulting in a fatality.
