There is an active investigation underway into a shooting that sent a man to the hospital in serious condition overnight in Newark.
The incident occurred in the vicinity of Clinton and Milford avenues shortly before 9:30 p.m. where police say they responded to the area for reports of shots fired.
Officers arrived at the scene found a male victim around the age 30-years-old suffering a gunshot wound to the head at that location.
The victim was rushed to University Hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
Detectives set up a crime scene in the area where they located shell casings and other evidence.
Authorities have not released the motive for the shooting or the identity of the victim at this time.
