Newark Police officials are investigating a shots-fired incident that occurred Sunday afternoon in the city’s South Ward.

According to Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr., officers patrolling the area of Niagara Street and Darcy Street at approximately 3:53 p.m. on May 24 heard gunfire and immediately responded to investigate.
No injuries were reported as a result of the shooting.
However, officers discovered property damage at the location, indicating that gunfire struck nearby structures or objects.
Police secured the area and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
No arrests have been announced, and authorities have not released information regarding possible suspects.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
