A shooting that occurred at a housing development in Newark has police on the search for suspects this morning.
Overnight gunfire erupted in the 200 block of Georgia King Village at around 9:35 p.m. sending police to the scene where they established a crime scene after locating a man suffering a gunshot wound to the leg inside an apartment at that location.
EMS transported the victim the short distance to University Hospital where doctors treated non-life threatening injuries according to preliminary reports.
Police converged on the vicinity of 11th Avenue and South 10th Street after they searched the area for potential suspects hiding out in the neighborhood.
Officers recovered multiple shell casings at the scene of the shooting according to reports.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
