Authorities in Newark are investigating a shooting that left a man critical overnight in the city.
Police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the 100 block of Norfolk Street at around 11:32 p.m.
Units arriving at the scene found the male victim suffering gunshot wounds at that location.
According to Newark Police Officials, the man was transported to University Hospital where he remains in critical condition.
Police set up a crime scene where they collected several pieces of evidence from the area.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
There are no arrests reported.
