Newark

Detectives for The Essex County Prosecutor's Office are investigating a shooting that left one person dead in Newark's North Ward overnight.

Units arriving at the scene requested EMS on a rush after finding a male victim suffering massive injuries after gunfire struck him at that location.

Police say a second victim was also found struck by gunfire.

One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene while EMS transported the other person to University Hospital in serious but stable condition reports said.

Police set up a crime scene where they searched for evidence to support a motive for the shooting.
