Paterson Police and the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office are investigating a shooting that killed a man in the city Saturday night.
It happened around 9:15 p.m. in the 100 block of West Broadway.
According to police, a gunman fired nearly a dozen shots in the direction of an unidentified person that struck them multiple times.
Officers rushed to the scene after a ShotSpotter device activated and alerted police of gunfire on West Broadway.
Police say the victim was pronounced dead at the scene and the suspect fled the area and remains at large.
The motive for the shooting has not been determined at this time.
