Police have a crime scene established in the area on Park Avenue near Munn and Arlington avenues as officers investigate reports of a shooting at this time.
Details are developing regarding the incident but according to preliminary reports, at around 2:15 p.m., gunfire erupted in the area sending a large police and several EMS units to the scene.
Residents inside the building reported hearing, what they believed to be, gunfire erupt then police sirens afterwards.
Several reports of a police involved shooting could not be confirmed by the Essex County Prosecutor's Office at this time.
There are no immediate reports of injuries or arrests made.
Police have an area around the area apartment buildings taped off for the investigation.
UPDATE: 6:10 p.m. Two males and a female was taken out of the building in handcuffs.
