Shooting Inside Newark's Convenience Store Leaves Serious Injuries

Police in Newark are investigating an overnight shooting at a convenience store that left serious injuries. 

Gunfire rang out in the 200 block of Hunterdon Street at around 1 a.m. sending heavy police presence to a convenience store where at least two people were injured by gunfire. The most seriously injured was a male victim around the age 19-years-old who suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to University Hospital in serious condition. 

One other person reportedly suffered a non-life threatening leg injury and was treated at University Hospital.

Witnesses in the area said that a loud  verbal altercation erupted inside the store shortly before the shooting. 

The shooting is under investigation by the Newark Police Department.
