Shooting Injures Man in Newark's South Ward

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office said there was no homicide investigation into a shooting incident on Sunday in Newark's South Ward. 

At approximately 6 p.m., gunfire erupted near the intersection of Clinton Avenue and Murray Street, prompting a police response. 

According to reports, officers arrived and found an unidentified person suffering a gunshot wound at that location. 

The injured was transported to University Hospital for treatment and is expected to recover. 

Police taped off the area around the C-Town Supermarket, where they searched for the suspect and other evidence. 

No arrests have been reported.
