A Newark South Ward shooting left one person injured and authorities investigating.
Reports of shots fired sent police to the vicinity of Leslie Street and Keer Avenue at approximately 11:30 p.m. where arriving officers found a male victim suffering a gunshot wound according to preliminary reports.
The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment, and his condition has not been released at this time.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation by Newark Police.
NPD UPDATE: Shortly before 11:30 p.m. last night, police responded to the 400-block of Leslie Street on a call of shots fired. A man was shot and arrived at Beth Israel Hospital for treatment. The victim is in critical condition. This incident remains under investigation.
There were no other injuries reported.
