Police in Jersey City found a gunshot victim in the vicinity of Caven Point and Garfield avenues late Saturday night.
According to a preliminary investigation, police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the area of Garfield and Commmunipaw avenues around 10 p.m.
Units arrived at the and were told by witnesses that suspects exited a black SUV and began firing on a male in the area before speeding from the scene. According to witnesses, the victim ran from the scene but was struck by bullets during the incident.
When police found the victim nearby, they requested EMS for non-life-threatening injuries.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
