Authorities in Essex County are investigating a shooting at a gas station that left one person critically injured early this morning in the city's North Ward.
Police responded to reports of shots fired at a gas station located in the 100 block of Garside Street around 2:15 a.m. where they found a male victim unconscious and unresponsive, shot to the abdomen. The victim was rushed to University Hospital where he was reported to be in critical condition.
Police are now on the search for two black males wearing dark colored hoodies who were reportedly attempting a robbery before gunfire rang out. Investigators from the Essex County Prosecutor's Office were on the scene collecting evidence while police units scoured the area searching for the suspects.
