An early morning shooting left an Elizabeth man seriously injured.
Police responded to the intersection near Franklin and 4th streets shortly before 4 a.m. for a report of shots fired.
Upon arrival, police found a male victim struck by gunfire at that location. A person at the scene told police that they were confronted by two men who fired weapons at them.
The injured victim was transported to University Hospital in Newark in serious condition.
The suspects were only described as black males.
The shooting remains under investigation.
