Shooting Critically Injures Man in Newark's North Ward; Two Shot in the City's West Ward

There are life threatening injuries reported for a male victim who was struck by gunfire in the city's North Ward late last night.

Reports of shots fired rang out in the area of South 13th Street and 9th Avenue shortly before midnight rushing about a dozen police units to the scene where officers located a male victim suffering injury from gunfire according to reports.

Police requested EMS on the rush for the victim who was unconscious suffering a gunshot injury to the head.

The victim was transported to University Hospital where his injuries were only reported as critical.

Police searched the area for a crime scene and possible suspects but there were no immediate reports of apprehended suspects.

In a separate incident, gunfire erupted in the area of 15th Avenue and South 11th Street shortly before 2:30 a.m. sending officers to the scene where they found a male victim shot at that location reports said.

The victim was transported to University Hospital suffering a gunshot wound to the chest.

A female victim was reportedly transported to the hospital via private vehicle a short time later.

Both victims' injuries are reported to be non-life threatening.

The motive for the shooting is under investigation.

There are no arrests reported.
