Police in Essex County set up a crime scene on the borders of Bloomfield and East Orange to investigate a shooting that injured a person on Wednesday night.
According to police, at approximately 9:50 p.m., police were dispatched to the vicinity of 75 North 13th Street to investigate reports of shots fired.
Upon arrival, police found over a half dozen shell casings and a person suffering gunshot wounds at that location.
Residents said the gunman repeatedly fired in the victim's direction.
EMS transported the injured to University Hospital for treatment while police canvassed the neighborhood for additional victims.
One person was detained at the scene, but Bloomfield Police officials have not identified the person as a suspect or announced an arrest at this time.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
