Police in Newark are looking for armed suspects who fired shots in a South Ward community on Thursday afternoon.
According to police, at approximately 3:45 p.m., suspects arrived in the area of Shephard Avenue and Bergen Street and began firing repeatedly in the area.
Police say a ShotSpotter activation alerted them of about a dozen rounds of gunfire at that location. Units arrived and were able to search the area but no victims were reported.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
