Shell Casing Recovered in Newark South Ward Shooting

A ShotSpotter device alerted police of a shooting that occurred in a section of Newark's South Ward during the overnight hours.

According to police, just after midnight, police responded to gunfire that erupted in the 600 block of Hunterdon Street.

When officers arrived at the scene, units found evidence that a shooting occurred but after they searched the area, no victims were found.

Police have not released a motive for the shooting and there were no arrests reported at this time.
