Union County authorities closed off a street in Scotch Plains to conduct a crash investigation after a vehicle struck a tree early Saturday morning.
According to preliminary reports, emergency responders rushed to the vicinity of Lake Avenue and Country Club Lane after receiving reports of a crash with injuries at approximately 3 a.m.
When crews arrived at the scene, they found that a car struck a tree with at least two occupants inside but not trapped, according to reports.
The victims were removed from the vehicle then rushed to University Hospital in Newark, where they remained in serious condition.
Authorities have not released the cause of the crash at this time.
