Passaic County authorities are reporting severe injuries for a person struck by a car on a highway in Wayne late Wednesday night.
According to a preliminary investigation, police were called to the vicinity of 444 Route 46 after they received reports of a person down in the road at approximately 9:50 p.m.
When emergency responders arrived, they found a severely injured, unconscious, unresponsive and unidentified person lying on the ground in the eastbound lanes near the Ford car dealership.
Emergency responders immediately provided life-saving techniques on to the victims shortly before rushing the person to St. Joseph's Hospital for treatment.
Police closed the eastbound service road while detectives conducted the accident investigation.
As of 3:30 a.m., we could only confirm life-threatening injuries for the victim and the driver of the car stayed at the scene.
