Severe Injuries Reported for Man Struck by Car in Newark's Ironbound Section

Residents in a Newark Ironbound community said they waited about 25 minutes for EMS to arrive at the scene of a pedestrian strike that seriously injured a man on Monday evening.

According to preliminary reports, the unidentified victim was struck by a car in the vicinity of Pacific and Warwick streets just before 6:35 p.m.

Witnesses said the victim was found lying on the ground -in a pool of blood- while people in the neighborhood sent several reports to 911 operators.

When EMS arrived, they rushed the man to University Hospital, where doctors treated the victim for severe injuries.

The Newark Police Department will handle the investigation into the incident. There were no other injuries reported.
