Police in Newark are on the search for three suspects wanted for a shooting that caused property damage in the city's South Ward.
Residents in the vicinity of 93 Ridgewood Avenue sought cover inside their homes after shooters arrived in the neighborhood and began firing multiple rounds at males standing in the area shortly before 7:50 p.m.
When officers arrived at the scene, they taped off the block after locating three vehicles struck by gunfire.
Police said no one was inside the vehicles and they checked hospitals in the region for potential gunshot victims.
According to authorities, a ShotSpotter device registered over a half dozen shots in the area before officers' arrival.
The suspects fled the scene and are at large. Newark Police will handle the active and ongoing investigation.
