Several Hospitalized After Exposure to Pesticides in Teaneck

Officials in Teaneck are investigating an incident where several people were exposed to pesticides in a Teaneck residence overnight.

Firefighters were called to a residential dwelling in the 600 block of Beverly Road at around 11 p.m. after receiving calls for several people feeling ill inside an apartment. Hazmat Crews were brought to the residence to assist in identifying the cause of the incident.

Crews arriving at the scene found occupants out of the dwelling and suffered exposure to an unknown toxin according to officials.

EMS transported three people to an area hospital where medical staff treated them for exposure to a pesticide.

A preliminary investigation indicated that an insect bomb was reportedly activated inside the residence.

None of the firefighters suffered exposure to the substance and crews used large fans to air the home out.

The offcial cause is under investigation.
