A serious overnight crash in Linden sent six people to the hospital and prompted a response from the city’s Fatal Accident Investigation Unit early Friday morning.

The crash occurred shortly after midnight near 1001 East Edgar Road.
Early reports obtained by our information center indicated a two-vehicle collision with multiple victims, including several who were found unconscious.
As the incident took place, additional ambulances were requested to the scene.
By approximately 1:53 a.m., emergency officials reported that six patients had been transported by ground ambulance to University Hospital in Newark.
Linden’s Fatal Accident Investigation Unit and the Union County Office of Emergency Management Diversion Team also responded.
As of 4:30 a.m., authorities have not released the conditions of the victims, and RLS Media has not received official confirmation of any fatalities despite early emergency radio traffic suggesting the crash may have been fatal.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
