Life Threatening Injuries Reported for Pedestrian Struck by Hit-andRun Vehicle in Irvington Township

Police in Irvington are looking into a pedestrian strike that sent one person to the hospital on Thursday evening in the Township.

It happened in the vicinity of 106 Ellis Avenue where witnesses contacted 911 when they observed a senior man down on the ground bleeding from his ears just before 9:40 p.m.

Family members would only preliminarily identify the man as a 79-year-old Township resident and said that he was struck by a black car -possibly a BMW- which sped away from the scene .

Police and EMS arrived at the scene and transported the victim to University Hospital in Newark for treatment according to reports.

The incident is under investigation by the Irvington Police Department.
